Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born August 8, 1989, in Paris. The couple relocated to Oxfordshire when she was five and enrolled in the Dragon School. When she was six years old, Emma realized she was going to become an actor and for many years she trained at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school where she studied performing and singing. When she was 10 years old, Emma took part in many Stagecoach plays and productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone The 2001 film adaptation of J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was filmed in 1999. Emma was initially discovered as a casting agent by her Oxford drama teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone, and Ron Weasley told Emma after eight auditions that she had been chosen for these parts. The cast included Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's first film on the screen came in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, released in 2001. The film was also the most successful film in 2001. Opening weekday and weekend ticket sales were record-breaking. Reviewers have been highly lauding the film, as well as the performances by the three principal young actors. The Daily Telegraph, an important British paper, called Emma's acting "amazing". Emma was awarded five nominations for her exceptional performance. Then, she was awarded the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actresses of the Film.
